I was just thinking, it is a large industry, and it is populated by many smart people. It seems like they could tell you how to win by now. What do you think?

Yes, they could make us all winners if, say for example, the 5th race at Aqueduct was run under the same conditions 50 times a day, and the result were the same at least 80% of the time.

The information industry on the internet survives and thrives on the multiple sales of the same information.  Now, as horseplayers, we understand that whatever theories were successful in the 5th race, just won't work in other races on the same card. There has to be some changes in the theory from race to race to be successful. Distance and surface changes, and much more. So the information industry would not survive.

There is so much in this game that is, and always will be, simply unknown. A sprinter going 9f for the first time, for example. There is just no way to know what he is going to do. Horse laid off for 6 months. Will it win first race back? We can really only guess. Things like these are why fav. still only win at 33% even though pace and speed handicapping has become rocket science. The information industry cannot quantify these intangible things. They can only guess like the rest of us. The other problem is human nature. If you gave 100 horseplayers the "key to the mint", a system or method that positively would show a profit longterm, and came back a year later, you would be lucky to find ANY of them still using it. That's why the info industry in this sport will never go broke. Most horseplayers aren't looking for the best system, they are looking for the NEXT system!

it sure would be nice if someone would or could take the time to try and help other people out who are trying to learn some type of system or program to help them understand horse racing, i understand there is no perfect system but i still believe ther must be a way to have some sucess at playing the races.
